Um, look at it and then look at pictures of different breeds of cats? Statistically speaking, your cat is probably of no particular breed- a mutt. That’s not to say that it might not have elements of different breeds- for instance a bobtail, Maine Coon or Siamese. I think that you can get genetic testing to see what exact breeds are in your cat’s dna but that seems like a waste of money that you could spend on toys and treats for your cat. Read more

I'm not a cat fancier, but with dogs, we tend to use "mixed breed" when trying not to be pejorative with "mongrel." I probably would have said "just a cat," however. Note, however, that "thoroughbred" is a breed of horse and the word used by people to whom the subject is important, use "purebred." Read more
