What to know before getting a cat
Here are a few basic things to keep in mind:
They are independent, which is not always a good thing. They can be very destructive, and will go for the things you want to keep in your home, like your phone, TV remote, pictures, perfume, etc. Be careful with your valuables and make sure your cat is an indoor cat.
They are always on the prowl for all kinds of things, so be prepared to deal with that.
Their curiosity sometimes leads them to try to climb things, which can be dangerous.
They are not always good with other cats.
They are not very friendly and will fight if they feel threatened.
They will not listen to commands, so don’t be too shocked if they escape.
They are very intelligent, and will figure out how to get out of things.
They are also very curious and can go places they shouldn’t.
They are very vocal and will bark at you if they aren’t happy or if they feel threatened.
Don’t just get a cat because you want one. Research your options and the different breeds, and make sure you are ready for the commitment.
