What ages do cats need shots

Cats are often healthy as long as they have regular checkups and are tested for diseases, but it’s important to keep them up to date with their shots. Pets in the same household should have their rabies vaccinations updated every year. Their shots should be up to date at the same time. It’s not too late to get your cat in for her shots, so call us today to make an appointment.

What kind of vaccines do cats need? The rabies vaccine protects your pet from a bacterial disease called rabies. Your cat must be vaccinated annually, even if she’s never had a problem with rabies before. The same goes for the feline leukemia and feline AIDS vaccines. If your cat has already been infected with one of these diseases, she needs more than one vaccine.

What about after the shots? It’s a good idea to vaccinate your cat again, even if she’s already been inoculated. We recommend a booster after two years to make sure she’s immune to the diseases she’s most likely to encounter. It’s also a good idea to get your cat’s shots again if she moves to a new city or state.

How will the shots affect my cat’s behavior? The vaccine doesn’t make your cat any more or less active. She’ll be acting normal, just like before. It’s safer for her to have the shots than to go without them.

Can I get them in for my cat? Yes. We offer three vaccines for cats, which we call the Rabies, Feline Leukemia, and Feline AIDS vaccines. Call us to schedule an appointment.

Can my cat get these vaccines at the vet? We recommend your cat be vaccinated by a vet but we can administer these vaccines if you can’t afford a vet visit.

What do I do with my pet’s shot records? Keep your pet’s records with your records to make sure your pet gets her shots when the time is right.

When do cats start going into heat? At what age? On average, kittens reach maturity when they are around five months old. After that point, if they are not spayed, they will begin going into heat. When a cat takes a drink, its tongue doesn't actually pierce the water's surface; it forms a funnel that lifts water up for a splash-free drink, getting in four laps per second. A dog, on the other hand, will sloppily crash its tongue into the water bowl like a cannonball. It's scientific proof that cats rule and dogs Read more
