Welcome to the world of fluff!

Have you ever wondered how much cats are shedding?

Cats shed a LOT.

It’s a fact of life.

Cats have a unique way of keeping their fur clean and free of debris. Cats constantly lick themselves and their fur to keep it that way.

They don’t have the same ‘problem’ as us humans, with our hair growing in all over our bodies, making it difficult to remove all the dead hair.

When cats are shedding, they are losing not only their outer layer of hair, but also their undercoat, as well.

Although they don’t have much of a choice, they will still continue to shed constantly until their skin is covered in hair.

Then, they will start to moult (shed in a very large amount) and the amount of hair that falls out is almost unbelievable.

Cats shed a lot in the Spring and Summer months.

In the early Spring, cats may be shedding to the tune of between 1 and 2 pounds (0.5 to 1 kilogram) of hair a day.

During the Summer, that number can jump up to 2 to 3 pounds (1 to 1.5kg) of hair a day!

There’s really no way to stop a cat from shedding, but there’s a lot you can do to help the cat keep their fur in top shape.

It is recommended that you brush your cat at least once a day to remove lint and loose hair.

You can also bathe your cat regularly to keep them clean, but also help to remove any dead hair that may be on their coat.

If your cat has a lot of hair, you may want to invest in a hairbrush. Cats with long hair can be difficult to brush, but it’ll make your cat feel better.

You can also use a nice, deep conditioning treatment for your cat’s fur.

Using a deep conditioning treatment will help to keep away all those loose hairs that come out when you brush your cat.

It will also help to make your cat’s fur feel incredibly soft and shiny.

If you have a cat that loves to groom itself, you can also try the following.

You can use a comb to remove loose hair from your cat’s coat.

MY daughter also had this problem... (one fat cat & one picky-eater skinny cat)... What she did was buy a small R.F.I.D. pet door for around $65 - $99 for her bedroom. This pet-door will only let the cat in that has the correct RFID tag on it's collar. You put the food for the skinny cat into a different room, like a bedroom or a laundry room & only the skinny cat with the RFID tag can open the pet door to get the food! Read more
