What happened to the cat on the football field

“Oh, that was yer cat, sir. He followed yer home.”

“You mean it was a cat?”

“Aye, sir.”

“And you let it in?”

“Where did it go?”

“Down the front hall and into the kitchen.”

“Where did it go next?”

“That’s all I know, sir.”

“Why did you let it in?”

“It followed me, sir.”

“Why did you let it follow you?”

“It was hungry, sir.”

“What happened to the cat after that?”

“I don’t know, sir.”

I was baffled. My cat had been gone for a long time, and he had never, ever, in all the years I had known him, ever followed anyone, human or animal, except me. He was a cat. He was a very good cat, a very quiet cat, a very submissive cat. I had never known him to stray, much less chase after anyone. He was a cat, and he was my cat.

I was a little embarrassed by the whole incident, and I just wanted to get it over with, so I decided to call the police. I called the police, and I told the police I had lost my cat, and I was very worried about him. They said, “Well, we’ll send someone.”

About forty minutes later, the police came back. They said, “We have a report of a cat, a black cat, all black, running around the neighborhood.”

And I said, “Where is he?”

“He’s here.”

“Where’s here?”

“In front of your house.”

I just couldn’t believe it. I went outside and there was the cat. He was just sitting there. He had never been away from me for so long. And he wasn’t even a little bit scared of me. He was sitting there on the sidewalk, waiting for me.

I was amazed. I just couldn’t believe it. He was my cat. He was my cat, and he wasn’t scared at all. I scooped him up, and I took him inside, and there was no fear, no fear at all.

He was just like the cat I had always known. He was just like the cat I had always known.

Cats can learn what they're not supposed to do. If your cat has developed a habit [of jumping up on the kitchen table], there are limited ways to prevent it. You could use a spring-loaded toy, so when a cat jumps up on something, the toy goes bang and up in the air—the cat doesn't like that and jumps down. Read more

CAT tools: history, types, examples. CAT tools were born out of initial interest to create machine translation tools in the 1950s, but researchers soon realized that machine translations were slower, far less accurate and more expensive than human translations. Since they could not create tools that would substitute human translators, they decided to invest in tools to help translators, by facilitating term bases and dictionaries. Read more

Don’t punish a cat for meowing.
